Kinderhaus is San Francisco’s only preschool with a German immersion program
Kinderhaus is a licensed preschool (#384002638) with a capacity for 18 children, and an independent, non-profit organization (501c3) incorporated under California law, not affiliated with any other institution.
Originally established as a preschool co-op, Kinderhaus has grown and flourished into full-time, German immersion preschool. The values and community that were established in the early days of Kinderhaus remain true today.
Kinderhaus attributes:
- We believe in community. The bonds of the Kinderhaus community last far longer than a child’s enrollment. We are friends, helpers, and supporters.
- We are nature bound. Kinderhaus plays outdoors rain or shine.
- We celebrate culture. Kinderhaus is a German immersion preschool that respects and values the many unique backgrounds that bring us together.
- We create freely. We get dirty daily with mud, water, slime, paint and sand. We bake, make sculptures out of clay, and paint our bodies.
- We explore with all senses. Vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.
- We are inspired. We view children as capable, competent, and creative, who simply need teachers to guide, encourage, and inspire them to explore their own questions.
- We are inclusive. We welcome all children and are prepared to integrate special educational programming to support children’s unique development abilities.
Along with our mission, “to cultivate your child’s intellectual and social growth while developing their German language skills and cultural awareness,” these attributes guide our program and allow Kinderhaus children, teachers, and families to truly embrace what makes Kinderhaus unique and special.
